The new requirement is designed to encourage students to create their own Hyung. When you were younger and got a coloring book, you chose how to color the picture in order to fill in the blank area. In a similar fashion, Hyungs are "fill in the blanks" technology. The student creates the movement or techniques of the Hyung. The student needs to know the application(s) for each of the movements that they include in their Hyung. Imagine that the ending body position for every technique the student knows are drawn on cards. The student will select the "cards" he/she wishes to include in their Hyung. The "cards" should be placed in an order that would allow the techniques they represent to flow from the beginning to the end of the Hyung. An appropriate floor pattern should be selected that lends itself to the application of the techniques. And finally, the student should put it all together in the performance of the Hyung with full knowledge of its applications. This project allows students to explore the creative side of the martial arts. At the same time, the technical aspects of the movement must be considered for the proper application of the techniques. Instead of just memorizing a predetermined series of movements that are often done without regard to their application, the student starts at the most basic level and builds the Hyung to its ultimate conclusion. Have fun and enjoy the creative process. The students will be amazed at the final product. Listed are some guidelines to help you get started. The Hyung must have a personality, yours. The Hyung must have a theme. Does the Hyung have reality. The Hyung must have weapons and grappling applications Kicks are required Upper body techniques are required. You can use techniques from the ground.
